Install the widget on your website.

When you register for the service and confirm your email you will see a page that will help you install the chat tool on your website. It takes less than a few minutes. We will outline the two basic options of installation:

 

First Option: Place the code on the website.

Copy the java script code you see and paste it before the closing body tag “< / body >” of your website. Or just send it to your web admins – they will know what to do. 😉

The Live Chat Alternative widget code is an asynchronous JavaScript code known as AJAX which can be embedded in any HTML, PHP or other script program languages.

 

Second Option: Use the WordPress plugin.

If you are running a WordPress website you can just use the plugin we’ve designed for the platform.

  • You can download the plugin locally on your PC and upload it to your WordPress website.

  • You can also find us from your website WordPress menu. Here are the steps:

     

1. Navigate to Plugins > Add New

2. Search for the
Free Call plugin

3. Click Install Now.

4. Activate the plugin.

5. Copy the companyID and SiteID values from your account

 

Log in your admin panel and navigate to Settings > Free Call Button Code

 

6. Copy the CompanyID and SiteID values which are unique for your account.

7. Go to your Free Call plugin > Settings

Paste them in their respective fields

8. Refresh your website!

That is all! Now the live chat alternative plugin is available on your website and all we have to do is input the contacts you want to use to receive inquiries.

How to activate the widget?

1. Log in your admin panel using this link and click on Settings

At the top right you can use the Settings to make all changes to the chat widget. Click on Telephone and Layout settings.

2. Navigate to the Telephone tab and click to “Activate your telephone.

3. Place your telephone number

Once your live chat widget is activated you can input your phone number. This should be the number you plan to receive the calls on. You can always change it later if you want.

4. Set business hours

After you set business hours in your chat widget the “Free Call” button will be active in that time frame and customers can call you. Outside of these hours they can use the Message Form to send you orders and text inquiries. This way our online chat tool is helping you serve customers 24/7 and you are not missing any opportunities.

*This option is valuable if you have international customers in different time zones or your customers sometimes contact you outside of business hours.

5. Input your email address

Navigate to the “Customize offline message theme” and make sure your Message feature is active. At the bottom field “Customer support email” you can add the email you want to receive message inquiries on.

6. Save changes

Use the green button on the bottom “Save changes” to save all your information and continue.

Now the Live Chat system is fully set up and ready to bring you more inquiries and customers.

Customize the live chat widget

All customization options are in your admin panel. Let’s start by customizing the “Free Call” button and see what possibilities we have.

Theme

The first option is to choose the theme for your chat tool. Based on your preferences you can choose between:

  • Modern
    Uses an eye-catching flashing button icon that grabs the attention of website visitors.
  • Classic
    A traditional looking theme with button design similar to other live chat software and can be used if it looks more compatible with your website design.

Position

You can decide where the live chat widget should be placed on your web page by choosing between left, right and center position.

The widget provides other tweaks like activating interactivity, text labels and changing the language. You can see all your changes real-time thanks to the built-in preview on the right.

Customize the Message Form


Navigate to the “Customize Offline Messages Theme” tab

Title text


The title text is your greeting message. Use it to grab the attention and to invite visitors to connect with you.

Color


You can choose the background and text color of the message tool. Decide between the default colors or make your own with the built-in color picker and hexadecimal field.

Form fields


Use this feature to add/remove custom fields to your Message Form. These can be email address, product id and other.

What useful information does the admin panel of the widget provide?

The admin panel is your command base. The place where you can find useful information about your customers and make style changes to your Live Chat Alternative widget. We’ve already covered how you can customize the widget and now let’s see what other benefits you can get for your business:

1. Dashboard:

Here you can see an overview of your account with summarized metrics. At the top you can find your monthly usage of minutes. That way you can check if you need an upgrade on your plan. This column shows you if the caller was using their browser or their actual cellular phone to contact you.

 

Caller Location


Shows you where every caller is located during the call. Under this tab you can see detailed information such as the IP address of the device or check from which page the customer contacted you. That way you can understand which are your most converting web pages.

Recording


Another great feature our live chat tool provides. With this widget functionality you can re-listen and analyze conversations. You can use this option for staff training and performance evaluation.

An added benefit is that you can double-check information that the customer shared during the call without the need to reach out to them and ask again.

Duration and Ring Time


The last two tabs are Duration and Ring Time and they show you how long the call lasted and how long the customer had to wait before they got connected.

3. Messages

 

You can also access all text messages from the icon at the top left or click on the Messages / “show details” from the bottom tab. There you can see your inbox, sent/answered and closed messages. You can also search for specific conversations.
